Getting there

  By airplane

Sharm El Sheikh (10km distance) and Taba (30km distance) have international airports where weekly charters from all over Europe fly to. Eilat airport (Israel-30km) can also be a choice. Egypt Air flies daily to and from Sharm El Sheikh and less frequently to Taba. Contact your travel agent for details.

   By ferry boat

A high-speed ferryboat travels from Sharm El Sheikh to Hurghada and back. It takes 90 minutes. Tickets can be bought locally for approximately US$ 40 per way. You need to be at the international harbour 60 minutes before departure. The ferry schedule is kept on time, beside rare days when it can be cancelled due to rough weather conditions.
Departure days and times from Sharm El Sheikh:
Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 18:00

Departure days and times from Hurghada:
Mondays at 05:00
Thursdays and Saturdays at 08:00

A high-speed ferryboat leaving from Nuweiba to Aqaba connects Egypt with Jordan. The departure time is at 11:00 every day, the timetable is a little flexible. Tickets can be bought locally (ask at the harbour for the ticket office, somebody will guide you).

  From Cairo

From Cairo you can either book a flight to:

Sharm El Sheikh (1 hour)
Taba (45 min)
or take a bus (low budget) at approx. LE 55 (approx. US$ 14-15) and this takes you between 6 and 7 hours to Sharm (500km) and 5 and 6 hours to Taba (450km).

There is one main bus station in Cairo called Abassea. Taxi drivers will know it. To Sharm El Sheikh and Taba the main carriers are the East Delta Bus company and the Superjet. Seats may be reserved up to two days in advance. Although bus times may change without notice, departures are so frequent that schedules are not a problem.
