Recent News
We’ve scored a hat-trick. No, we haven’t taken up football on the side, we have been awarded not one, not two but three awards for last year! Firstly, Red Sea Diving College was awarded a PADI Certificate for Excellence 2006. Then, in recognition of our environmental efforts, such as the artificial reef and many various clean-ups, we have been awarded the Project AWARE Foundation Environmental Achievement Award 2006, one of only two awards given by Project AWARE Foundation (International) for last year and the only one to go to a dive centre, its also a first for Egypt.
Last, but definitely not least, you have voted us Best Dive Centre in 2006 in the DIVER Awards. We would like to pass on our gratitude to everyone who has helped, donated and voted to ensure our walls are buckling under the strain of all these awards! Hears to a great 2007……

Dave the turtle

Many of you will already know Dave. He’s the Hawksbill turtle who is always hanging around on Shark & Yolanda, sporting a broken shell from a previous injury. Well the unlucky fella again came out worse after an argument with a boat propeller. The College staff rushed to his aid and, with the help of the National Park and experts from all around the world, have transformed him into a healthy chap again. His release was a well celebrated day and testament to the kindness and enthusiasm of staff here in Sharm.

LIDS 2007

Held on 10-11th March, Excel in London Docklands, LIDS 2007 is sure to be a sold out event again this year. Of course Red Sea Diving College will be there, so come and say hi, pass on your regards or just catch up on the gossip! We are on Stand PV40 in the PADI Village.

This year we will also be at the Irish Dive Show, held at Boyne Valley Hotel on 3-4th March.

Dolphin Appeal
In Japanese waters, more than 20,000 dolphins and whales are killed annually.
Typically, groups are rounded up in deep water and then herded to shore where they are slaughtered with knives, their meat being sold off.
By the time they reach shallow water, the dolphins are highly distressed from looking after the youngsters in a hunt that can last for days.
The college would appreciate you joining us in our support of any campaign to stop cruelty to Dolphins.

MBE for former staff member
Dawn Bacon from Derby, who has been an expat in Sharm el Sheikh for over 8 years, has been nominated for a MBE in the New Years Honors List.
Dawn is known by many of the diving community in Sharm and by guests from around the world through working at the Red Sea Diving College for more than 7 years and has been a familiar face to many guests.
She has been nominated through her good work as the Honorary Consul for the English Embassy, which she now does full time.
During past events in Sharm and Dahab while still working at the Red Sea Diving College Dawn was always the first to give her time offering assistance and advice and giving support wherever possible.
Guy Haywood, an owner of Red Sea Diving College, commented "Well deserved for all her effort. Nice one Dawnie" The whole team at the Red Sea Diving College would like to congratulate Dawnie on this very special recognition for her good work and wish her every success for the future.

Red Sea Diving College & Red Sea Water World celebrate a Wedding

It is with great pleasure that we announce the recent wedding of Rachel Ward and Alex Arnold and wish them every success and happiness for the future.
Apology
After a slight typing error last newsletter, we would like to apologise to Mark Evans, who was mistakenly quoted as working for DIVER magazine. Despite it appearing to avid readers that he had jumped ship, he is still in gainful employment with Sports Diver, and please accept our humblest apologies Mark!
CONGRATULATIONS
The winner in our quarterly draw is Paul Tattam. Paul wins a weeks diving for two! Look forward to seeing you soon!
