No tape for Red Sea Diving College anymore

On your first day of diving with the Red Sea Team you will have had a briefing about bringing your passport for Ras Mohammed, rules for diving in the National Park and among other things details of the tape around the tops of our cylinders. All dive cylinders were marked with a strip of coloured insulation tape around the valve to indicate a full tank.

In order to make booking a Red Sea diving holiday a quicker and more straightforward experience, Red Sea Diving specialist Tour Operator, Longwood Holidays has redeveloped its online booking engine.
Dan Lion, Longwood’s Diving Product Manager said: “Thanks to new technology the service features a live pricing and availability search, and the facility to add any of our diving packages or courses to a holiday booking. It allows for holidays, with or without diving included, to be booked online, allowing divers and their non diving travelling companions the flexibility to build their Red Sea holiday at their convenienceâ€

Doctor’s Corner … Jaw Ache?

After diving it is not uncommon to experience a dull ache or pain in the jaw, which after repetetive dives can leave the diver in substantial pain. Over the course of a 5 day dive holiday this can develop to a level where it can be uncomfortable to dive and detract from the enjoyment of your trip. This month we ask our experts at Sharm’s Hyperbaric Medical Centre what causes this, how it can be treated and more importantly how it can be prevented?

That’s Amoré (not a moray)

The Disney classic “The Little Mermaid†tells of a beautiful mermaid falling in love with a man from the surface. The tragic tale where the mermaid sells her voice to the evil witch in return for a life on land, ends happily, (as one expects from Disney) when she gets her voice returned and is able to live for ever after with her Prince Charming. We think that this curious frog fish from Taba had delusions of a terrestrial life when she made some rather amorous advances towards one of our divers. We all know divers are not allowed to touch the fish, but it seems that the fish have not been informed of this rule. Peter De Winter was extremely lucky when diving with Gary Maguire at our Red Sea Waterworld branch to have such a rare close encounter.
